History bids us to move forward but in Kyoto, part of what makes this city unique is that they somehow are able to mix that sense of history and culture into society.

Kyoto is by far a more outgoing and fun city than Tokyo...at least to me it is. The people are extremely friendly and lively. By far, my new favorite city in the world.

Yeah, Kyoto is great!
Don't think I could live there though. Too hot in summer, too cold in winter and public transport is terrible.

I have to agree with public transport - and it's expensive and not as easy as Tokyo to use.

I do like the people here though - more friendly than Tokyo and northern Japan (which just got snow today).
