"Warrior women" Series - The northern part of Japan is the place where the majority of archers are women. This event is a women's only event. They ride and shoot at fixed targets. Towada has the most women archers in Japan. This City also has the most women archers in the country. Very traditional sport.

The idea of "agree to disagree" is the excuse to tolerate bigotry and oppressive attitudes. Individualistic tolerance means also tolerating the larger effects of it. This means you are tolerating the bigotry of the culture and the society at large.

@_@ That's a lot to sort through!

I used to take archery at an all-women's dojo while I was in Japan for several months, but never got to see one of these competitions or shrine festivals while I was there, so these great photos are really a treat for me to see!

This particular series is from the the only women's competition in Japan. It's held in Towada in the northern part of Japan. I hope to get a chance to go see them again this year.
